Jackson Estuarine Laboratory (JEL) is located five miles from the Durham campus on the shores of Great Bay Estuary, one of the largest estuaries in northern New England.
The Shoals Marine Laboratory (SML) is located 6 nautical miles off the coast of New Hampshire and Maine on Appledore Island. The island serves as a remote marine science field station. SML offers undergraduate courses and courses for high school students, in addition to providing research opportunities.
Open Ocean Test Site
An open ocean test site for evaluating aquaculture and ocean renewable energy systems. The site is located six miles offshore, 1.5 miles south of Isles of Shoals in 52 m of water.
