Dr. Jessica Scheick is a glaciologist, open-source software developer, remote sensor, and lifelong lover of snow, winter, and the outdoors. With a background in glaciology, remote sensing, and climate science, her current work focuses on glaciological research (especially icebergs and ice-ocean interactions), research-enabling open-source software projects, and climate justice and justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. She is the lead developer and maintainer for the icepyx library (for obtaining and working with ICESat-2 satellite data), an open science advocate, and an organizer and lead coordinator with the University of Washington eScience Institute's Hackweek team. When she's not working, you can often find Jessica encouraging people to make positive life changes (for themselves and the environment), dancing, hiking, skiing, or working on an old building.
