Degree Options

M.S. degree

Students are required to take one oceanography course and four additional core courses.  They are also required to take 6-8 credits of additional, elective coursework and to complete a 6-credit master’s thesis.

M.S. degree with ocean mapping option

Students must take six required core courses and select 4 additional credits from a speficied elective list.  Students are also required to complete a master’s thesis for six credits. 

Ph.D. degree

Students must take at least 12 courses (excluding dissertation research) beyond those required for a B.S. degree.  These include one course in oceanography or ocean science, five core courses in ocean engineering, two courses in advanced OE topics, two math courses and four electives.

Certificate in Ocean Mapping
