Atlantic Marine Aquaculture Center
The Atlantic Marine Aquaculture Center, established in 2006 is an evolution and extension of the UNH Open Ocean Aquaculture Demonstration Project (OOA) which was established in 1997 and the Cooperative Institute of New England Mariculture and Fisheries (CINEMar). CINEMAR was established in 2000 as a joint partnership between the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the University of New Hampshire (UNH).
AMAC's goal is to provide the research and development necessary to stimulate an environmentally sustainable offshore aquaculture industry in New England and nationwide. Stock enhancement is also being explored as a tool to revive wild capture fisheries.
AMAC is located on the UNH campus in Durham, NH and is directed by Dr. Richard Langan (Affiliate Associate Professor of Zoology).
