UNH Marine Docents

UNH Marine Docents

Established in 1977, the UNH Marine Docent program now includes approximately 175 volunteers dedicated to UNH and to the preservation and wise use of our marine resources. Through a diverse number of programs our Marine Docents provide a lens through which the marine and associated environments can be viewed, understood and enjoyed sustainably by people of all ages.

Programs include teaching and outreach at the Seacoast Science Center, the Great Bay Discovery Center and Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve; leadership in the International Coastal Cleanup program, the Piscataqua Maritime Commission and the Lobster Conservancy; and operation of the Great Bay Coast Watch and Sea-Trek Education Programs offered through UNH and the New Hampshire Sea Grant Program.

For information on how to join the Marine Docent Program and make a difference in the stewardship of our marine resources and children, go to the Marine Docent Home Page (link above) or contact Mark Wiley, Director of the UNH Marine Docent Program.
