New Hampshire Sea Grant College Program
Established in 1970, the New Hampshire Sea Grant College Program is a collaborative partnership between the State of New Hampshire and the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) designed to provide support, leadership, and expertise for marine research, education, and extension. As a component of the National Sea Grant College Program, NH Sea Grant is one of a network of 30 programs promoting the understanding, development, wise use, and conservation of our ocean and coastal resources. UNH is one of only nine universities in the nation to hold top tier status as a land, space and sea grant institution.
New Hampshire Sea Grant provides support for innovative marine research programs and plays a leading role in translating research to users through both informal education and outreach efforts. The UNH Marine Docent Program has been closely associated with and supported by the Sea Grant program since its inception in 1977.
