There is a series of distinctive charcoal dust drawings, depicting sturgeon embryos in each stage of development, which hang above professor of biology Jessica Bolker’s desk. She drew them herself, participating in a longstanding tradition that marries biology and art. And she shares this dual passion each summer with her students in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture’s (COLSA) Marine Immersion program at the Shoals Marine Laboratory on craggy Appledore Island.
